Aragon has an area of 47,719 kmē (18,424 miē) with a population of 1,217,514 (2003). It is made up of 3 provinces: Huesca Teruel Zaragosa Aragon is traversed by the River Ebro, and is mountainous in the north, with beautiful fertile valleys, and somewhat barren in the south. More than half the population live in the capital city Zaragoza. Aragon has a low population density with large almost deserted spaces.
